Vanessa Redgrave and Simon Russell Beale
Readers: Simon Russell Beale and Vanessa Redgrave.
The unmissable 'grande finale' evening throws a hat into the air for our diamond year. Readings will be given from the works of poets who have appeared in the festival, including Day Lewis, Macneice, Cornford, Betjeman, Auden, Smith (Stevie), Causley, Raine (Kathleen), Barker, Hughes, Jennings, Thomas (RS), Fanthorpe, Heaney, Dunmore, Harrison, Clarke (Gillian) and Motion.
The selection has been compiled by Roger Pringle, who directed the festival for 35 years. He will also speak about some of these poets and other people involved in creating the event's reputation, and Paul Edmondson will complete its more recent history.
Venue: Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Shakespeare Centre, Henley Street, 7.30pm
