After weeks of preparation, on Saturday 27 July, local residents and visitors from across the world came together to celebrate the grand opening of the new Garden Café at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Shottery.
Located across the road from the iconic Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, the new Garden Café is now open for local residents and visitors, seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. Customers can expect coffees, teas and ever-changing specialities every week.
‘’Following weeks of preparation, it was an absolute joy opening our doors for local residents and visitors to the area. This marks an exciting new period for the food and beverage offer across the Shakespeare family homes, and now we cannot wait for our customers to come on our journey with us.’’
Said Louise Greenall, Commercial Manager at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
The café is open to both residents and visitors to the cottage across the road, offering a serene space from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It also offers ample space and a great opportunity for local organisations and community groups to come together to socialise or to learn.
‘’Going forward, we want the Garden Café to be more than just a place to eat. We hope it will become a cherished spot for both local residents and visitors, as well as a vibrant hub that caters to a range of events, including workshops, craft classes, and much more.’’
Added Louise.
Grand Opening Highlights
With the sun making a welcoming appearance, customers to the café had a great time celebrating the Grand Opening and being the first to seeing its new look, feel and menu.
During the day audiences enjoyed a host of free special activities, including colourful face painting and storytelling sessions for young children.
To add to the atmosphere, customers enjoyed the vibrant sounds from the talented Phase One Steel Orchestra as they played live music in the garden café grounds.
Open throughout the week, the Garden Café offers both indoor and outdoor seating, allowing customers to unwind and connect with nature as they chat with friends over a cup of coffee and cake. For those with young children, there is a child-friendly space inside containing a range of games to keep the little ones entertained.
The thoughtful menu offers a range of delicious locally sourced food, drinks, and snacks, featuring much-loved British classics such as scones, pastries and ice cream. Alongside the food options, the Garden Café also offers a selection of refreshing drinks such as apple juice made using locally produced apples that are pressed and bottled at Warwickshire College in Pershore to hot chocolate and coffee.
