My daughter signed up to this as an individual. Oh my goodness - she LOVED it.

The 'Catch-up' conference (for classes or individual students) includes:

  • One 45 minute pre-recorded illustrated talk on your set-text, exploring cultural, literary and theatrical contexts, with a focus on how literary and dramatic devices shape meaning.
  • Some 15 minute videos featuring analysis of individual extracts from your set-text, drawing on a variety of different interpretations.
  • Transcripts of the extract analysis videos to keep as revision notes after the event.
  • A 60 minute live discussion with experts featured in the pre-recorded materials answering student questions.
  • A range of expert and peer voices helping students to develop their own thinking.

Pre-recorded materials will be released one week in advance of the live session to allow students to digest and respond to the material in their own time.

The live Q&A panel discussion will be accessible via YouTube. In the interests of safeguarding, students will not be seen or heard, but will be able to pose questions and read and follow other students' responses via the 'chat' function.

These sessions have been devised to suit classes following AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and IB specifications.

Questions can be submitted in advance or during the live session.

Recent student questions have included:

  • Does Shakespeare blame Desdemona for her own death in Othello?
  • Why is Ophelia’s death so elegant in comparison to the other deaths in Hamlet?
  • Is the absence of any motherly figures in King Lear significant?
  • Why do the women all end up with disappointing men in Twelfth Night?

The presenting style has a lovely spontaneity to it so our students were really motivated to engage with what they were hearing.

The format of having the recorded talks and then the live Q&A worked really well. Our students really enjoyed the session.
