Work
continues on our new Jacobean costumes, which will be displayed at Hall’s Croft to show visitors how residents Susanna and Elizabeth Hall may have dressed.
After rigorous colour testing the first fabrics have now been dyed in beautifully rich golden and red shades.
Here’s Kay Anderson finishing work on Susannah’s “bum roll”. These form part of the underpinnings of the costumes, sitting underneath the petticoat to provide the distinctive shape that was fashionable in Jacobean society.
