On Monday 24 November we welcomed Sport and Tourism Minister, Helen Grant MP, to hear more about our work, plans for 2016 and what we and other Stratford organisations are doing to promote the town and the region to visitors. After a photo opportunity and visit to the RSC, the Minister walked with Diana Owen, Director of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Catherine Mallyon, RSC Executive Director, and David Collins, Chairman of Shakespeare’s England, along Stratford’s historic spine pausing to take in Shakespeare’s schoolroom at King Edward VI School and New Place.
At Shakespeare’s Birthplace the Minister was given a tour of the house, enjoyed a sport and tourism themed archive display, was shown Emily Knight’s Lightshow installation in the garden and before leaving was serenaded by one of our Shakespeare Aloud! actors.
Many thanks to everyone involved in making Monday’s visit such a success.
