The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s learning and participation team transformed itself into a glamorous ensemble in order to attend the 2015 Pride of Stratford Awards recently, to spend an evening the lovely team at Touch FM, as well as a number of our exceptional colleagues from around Stratford-upon-Avon.
The team was thoroughly honoured to have been nominated and shortlisted in late 2014 as contestants for the ‘Team of the Year’ award. The prize was bestowed jointly upon our worthy fellow nominees, the RSC Costumiers and Enable, who have our heartiest congratulations.
Later on in the ceremony, one of the panel judges began to make a speech about a team that works harder than anyone to promote the works of Shakespeare to children and people across all ages.
It came as a wonderful surprise when our very own learning and participation team were then announced as the recipients of a special award for outstanding performance! Jacqueline Green, head of the department, delivered a wonderful speech, updating the crowd on the latest Shakespeare Week figures and praising her team for their engagement and enthusiasm.
We’re extremely proud that the team received a special mention at the awards, and consider it to be a fitting testament to the work carried out by the team in an effort to share their genuine passion for Shakespeare’s works, as well as the great man himself.
