Residential Courses in Stratford-upon-Avon

Bespoke learning experiences, tailored with your group in mind.

Throughout the year, The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has had the pleasure of welcoming over 500 students into the Shakespeare Centre, hailing from 30 universities, high schools and special interest groups across the globe; including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA for a residential course. These bespoke courses have presented students and enthusiasts with the opportunity to immerse themselves in William Shakespeare’s life, times and his works right here in Stratford-upon-Avon.

With access to our world-class Shakespeare library and collections, visits to the five Shakespeare family homes alongside a range of talks, lectures and practical classes delivered by our expert team of lecturers and practitioners, these courses have been designed to provide the most informative and educational experience for students and course participants.

The SBT offers a unique, professionally-delivered and affordable bespoke educational experience to students interested in theatre and Shakespeare. The sessions are both friendly and underpinned by deep knowledge of the material.

Our team of lecturers have enjoyed a number of brilliant discussions with some exceptional students. For Dr Anjna Chouhan, ‘Nothing ever beats the thrill of seeing faces light up, seeing individuals grow in confidence and develop sharper critical skills over the course of their time with us. This year, the undergraduates from Windward College, Hawaii were just such a group: enthusiastic, hungry for knowledge and generous in discussion, and the genuine joy I saw in their eyes every day was something I will always remember fondly.’

The newest addition to the team of lecturers here at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Dr Darren Freebury Jones’ highlights ‘stemmed from two groups in particular: Florida International University and Windward College. These groups really grasped just how wonderful an opportunity it was to visit Shakespeare's town and the Centre, and they responded most enthusiastically to talks.’

Such a high-quality, inspiring experience. All of the presenters are true experts. Students rise to the occasion.
