A Surprise from Cawston Elementary School

Cawston Elementary School

It is always a joy to hear how children all over the world enjoy performing Shakespeare’s plays and learning about the bard. We were therefore delighted when a parcel arrived in the post all the way from Cawston Elementary School in California. In April this year they celebrated their school-wide Shakespeare Festival including celebrating Shakespeare’s Birthday on 23rd April.

The Festival featured abridged performances of several plays as well as visiting actors and even a Shakespeare booth where students could learn lines from the plays.

The students had also made their very own birthday cards for Shakespeare which were enclosed in the parcel wishing the bard a very happy 453rd Birthday and listing their favourite plays, characters, and Shakespeare quotes.

A big thank you goes out to Ms Cynthia Hudson Reed for sending us this very thoughtful gift. It is wonderful to see so many happy faces celebrating Shakespeare and we hope that the school will continue to celebrate the bard’s life and work for many years to come!
