As part of our commitment to conservation and preservation of the Shakespeare Family Homes, a series of works will be taking place at Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in 2025.
Shakespeare’s Birthplace will not be accessible to visitors between Monday 6 Jan and Friday 17 Jan, and will reopen fully to the public on Saturday 18 Jan 10am.
Anne Hathaway’s Cottage will not be accessible between Monday 20 Jan and Friday 31 Jan, and will reopen fully on 1 February 10am.

In order to ensure that Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage are maintained and protected for years to come, important works such as planned, minor repairs, decoration and general maintenance will be carried out across both properties.
As well as preserving the buildings and the important collections on display, our gardens team will also be taking extra care to look after the outside spaces at both properties whilst protecting local biodiversity.
